Product Overview
IPnote Enterprise or E2 can be best described as a system which is comprised of 3 components:
-
IPnote Server
-
IPnote Admin
-
IPnote Client
These three components enable the System Administrator or Help Desk Administrator to quickly and effectively do their job.

Here are the components broken down:
IPnote Server
This is the heart of the system. All clients report into the server. IPnote Server then logs the connection info into the MySQL database.
The IPnote Server also keeps a running tab on all clients reporting in. Licensing is based off connections to the server.
If you are licensed for 50 connections, the server will only allow 50 concurrent connections, it will refuse any connections over is license alotment.
The server also keeps an SSL connection to the clients at all times.
IPnote Admin Console
The Admin console is the Front End to the Server. The Server collects all of the data, the admin console displays it.
Alkasis took this reporting one step further by adding useful tools that the Helpdesk or System Administrator can use.
These tools include: Ping, Port Checker, Trace Route, Get Netstat Info and Get System Info.
IPnote Admin also has the ability to generate reports and email them to an external email address for further review.
By logging in with the IPnote admin console, which can be done remotely from any location as long as you can connect to the IPnote admin port (2002). You can also setup multiple users that can log in.
IPnote Client
The client is installed on the machine you would like to monitor. The IPnote client's job is to constantly monitor it's own internal and external (external being if machine is behind a router) and reporting this to the IPnote server.
The Client connects to the server on port 2001 and uses SSL. The client can be "asked" by the IPnote server to perform other duties, including: Retrieving its Netstat Info or System Info.
The IPnote client can be configured to run without a system tray icon and you can password protect the control panel. This is to keep people from accidentally modifying connection info.
